Nelson Police Board Director Amed Naqvi

Amed Naqvi is a retired Partner with Berg Naqvi Lehmann, Chartered Accountants in Nelson. Active in the community, he is a Director of Kootenay Savings Credit Union. In the past, Mr. Naqvi served as Vice Chair with the Community First Health Cooperative, President of the Nelson Golf and Recreation Society, and President of Kootenay Lake General Hospital, to name a few. Professionally, he served as President and Council member for the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC. In 2004, he received the Fellow of Chartered Accountants. Mr. Naqvi holds his Bachelor of Commerce and is a designated FCPA/ FCA. Mr. Naqvi serves on the Board of Directors of the Columbia Basin Trust as Finance & Audit Committee Chair.
Nelson Police Board Director Bill Reid

Dr. William (Bill) Reid is a Certified Facilitator and a Master Trainer for True Colours International. Bill has worked with True Colours since his days as a high school principal and now trains those who wish to learn to facilitate the popular program. Bill also offers his professional facilitation skills to support groups of all sizes in achieving their goals at meetings, workshops, and retreats.
Born in Scotland, Bill grew up in Ontario where he received an Honours BA in English Literature at Trent University. Other degrees followed over the years including a Bachelor of Education, a Masters Degree in Educational Administration, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership. Bill began teaching in Fort St. John and moved to Nelson to become the principal of the local high school. He has also served the local school district as District Principal for Distance Education, International Programs and Technology, Director of Instruction (Teacher Personnel), and Superintendent of Schools/CEO.
An innovative educator and trained facilitator, Bill has presented sessions throughout BC and worldwide including International Association of Facilitators in Melbourne, the True Colors conference in Puerto Rica, and of course many times throughout the Kootenays and southern interior of British Columbia.
Bill is the President of the International True Colors Association. He also served three years as the elected Director of Communications for the worldwide International Association of Facilitators. He is currently a member of the Nelson Police Board and President of the British Columbia Association of Police Boards.
Nelson Police Board Director Elizabeth Edwards

Liz Edwards has been living in Nelson for the last fourteen years, having moved from the lower mainland. She is currently employed as a clinical pharmacist at Kootenay Lake Hospital and a fitness instructor at the Nelson and District Community Complex.
Liz completed her pharmacy degree at UBC followed by her hospital pharmacy residency at St. Paul’s Hospital where she started her pharmacy career before moving to Nelson.
Being active and involved in the community is important to Liz; she has been the swim director for the Nelson Cy’swog’n’fun Triathlon for the past 10 years as well as having volunteered with the Nelson Nordic Ski Club.
Nelson Police Board Director Hilda Taylor

Hilda Taylor has lived in the City of Nelson for 17 years. Hilda retired from her position as Branch Manager of Kootenay Insurance in 2015 after many years in the General Insurance business.
She has focused on volunteer work for the past few years.years. Prior to her move to Canada in 1978, she lived in the Republic of Ireland. She worked for Meath County Council first as a clerical officer, then assistant staff officer and finally, town clerk of a small municipality.
Hilda is an active volunteer in the communities in which she lives. She was a secretary of Kelowna Minor Hockey, volunteered for many soccer and hockey teams through the years and she is currently serving as Vice President of the Nelson Legion Auxiliary and member of the Kootenay Lake Hospital Auxiliary.

Mayor Deb Kozak
Elected November 15, 2014
Deb Kozak is the first woman to serve as Mayor of the City of Nelson.
Deb is serving her fourth term on City Council. In her capacity as mayor, Deb is the Chair of the Nelson Police Board and a Director on the Regional District of Central Kootenay Board.
Deb also serves on the Executive Committee of the Union of BC Municipalities (UBCM). Her responsibilities at UBCM include the Community Safety and Healthy Communities Committees which are directly related to policing services. She is also the Vice-President of the Municipal Insurance Association of BC and the Past President of the Association of Kootenay Boundary Local Governments. Deb chairs the Columbia River Treaty Local Governments Committee and is passionate about the future of the Columbia Basin.
Deb is a community builder who has worked in both the private and non-profit sectors and has served on volunteer organizations at local, provincial and national levels.
Deb was born and raised in Saskatchewan, and completed her education in Saskatoon. She has lived in Nelson for over 30 years, where she and her husband Peter raised two children, Terry and Laura. In 2014, the family joyfully welcomed granddaughter, Aizlinn.
