Disasters and emergencies happen, even here in beautiful Nelson. Preparing for the hazards we might face is an important step towards ensuring you and your family’s well-being and building a resilient community. It all starts with KNOWing the hazards we might experience, then making a PLAN and BUILDing an Emergency Preparedness Kit.

Depending on the circumstances of a hazard, you could have to leave your home immediately or end up staying locked in for days. The key is being prepared!

Many British Columbians are not!  A survey by the Provincial Government in 2018, reports that over 65% of people have not built an Emergency Preparedness Kit and only 13% of people have completed a personal Emergency Plan. Read more about the survey here.

KNOW the hazards, complete your Emergency PLAN and BUILD an Emergency Preparedness Kit. These simple steps can make all the difference when faced with a disaster.
