The Adventure Friends afterschool program is for children aged 5-12, and it costs $25.00 per day. The fee includes pick up from selected local elementary schools, a nutritious snack, as well as full access to the NDYC! Program participants can use our skatepark, art room, music room, sensory room, multipurpose room, basketball court and Tween Hang Zone with supervision in each room. We take a maximum of 40 kids each day from the time school gets out until 5:30pm. Registration beforehand is mandatory. 

To register for our Adventure Friends program, fill out one of our forms and write down which days we will be caring for your child(ren). If you need to add or subtract child care days after submitting it, simply email us at youthcentre@nelson.ca and provide us with an updated schedule. Please provide us with at least 24 hours notice. Families are still billed if their child is registered but do not attend without sufficient notice. Invoices are mailed to your homes monthly, with  the convenient option of paying over the phone.

The Adventure Friends program is dedicated to strengthening families and our community. We value each family involved in our program and respect the various backgrounds that enrich our program. We recognize that each child is an individual and that each family has different needs and expectations. Our goal is to build partnerships and work with families to help children grow to be happy, healthy and successful adults. We strive to be part of the community needed to raise the next generation of children. 

Plan ahead and mark your calendars with important holidays and early dismissal dates. The program runs Monday to Friday throughout the school year. We follow the School District 8 Calendar.

Walking School Bus

We can pick up your kids at school! We are currently offering walking busses from Hume Elementary, South Nelson and Wildflower. Students meet staff at their designated meeting spot and then they all walk to the NDYC together.
