This year, Nelson residents will receive their municipal tax notices earlier than usual. The City has decided to send out the notices in advance due to a potential postal strike later this month.
Even with the early mailing, the deadline for tax payments remains the same: Wednesday, July 2.
This deadline will not be affected by a postal strike.
To ensure timely payment of property taxes and to avoid late penalties, property owners are encouraged to avoid mailing their payments. Instead, consider the following options:
Pay at City Hall: Visit the Customer Service team on the first floor at City Hall, Suite 101 - 310 Ward Street, between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
24-hour drop-off: Deposit payments in the drop box located beside the front entrance at City Hall, 310 Ward Street, before July 2 at 4:30 pm. Canadian cheques postdated by the payment deadline are accepted. Note that postmarks are not accepted as proof of payment date.
