Nelson Police investigate Break & Enter at City Hall
2024-7735: Police were called on Monday by a staff member at City Hall who reported that his department appeared to have been broken into.
“Although City Hall is open to the public, no one should have been able to access this part of the building,” say investigators.
When police arrived on scene, the staff member pointed out several drawers and cabinets that had been rifled through, as well as items that had been taken or moved. Forensic services were called to the scene and were able to extract usable pieces of evidence.
Police are still investigating this file. Anyone with information is asked to contact the department.
Nelson police seek information on stranger attack
2024-7758: Police were called on New Year’s Eve to assist with a stranger assault.
The victim, a 21-year old man, was approached from behind and pepper sprayed shortly before 10:00pm. The attacker immediately ran off and the victim wasn’t able to see their face. The victim declined medical services and left the scene after speaking with emergency services.
The Nelson Police ask that anyone with information about this incident come forward.
Nelson Police search for missing person
2025-46: The Nelson Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance to help find 33-year-old, Christopher Ward Newton of Nelson, British Columbia.
The last known sighting of Cristopher was in August of 2024 in Nelsons downtown core. The Nelson Police Department is asking anyone who sees Christopher to call the police immediately.
Christopher is 33 years of age, 5’10, 159 pounds, brown hair and brown eyes. He has a skateboard tattoo on his left shoulder. He is pictured below.
